This lovely 16th century Manor House is close enough to the M25 to be convenient, but in terms of timescale you are in a different world. Theresa and Tony Valentine preside over a kitchen, which, whilst it describes its offerings as traditional, is truly international in scope. There are extensive carte or fixed price menus available and the choice might include Cajun squid with sliced chorizo, tomato salsa and ruby chard dressed with lemon oil, followed by whole roast chump of lamb with rosemary gravy, caramelised carrots, shallots and champ potatoes. Excellent choice of desserts. Interesting wine list drawn from all main sources with house wine starting at £16.
