The Gingerman at Drakes Announces Closure
Brighton's highest rated restaurant The Gingerman at Drakes announces that they are to close at the end of this month.
Without a doubt some of the cities most loved restaurants are part of The Gingerman Restaurants Group. Be it their Michelin featured pub the Ginger Pig or the critically acclaimed Gingerman at Norfolk Square these restaurants have become an institution. Over the past 4 years their kemptown restaurant The Gingerman at Drakes has won a host of accolades including a two year rating of 6 out of 10 in the ‘Good Food Guide’ making them the highest rated restaurant in Brighton.
Owners Ben and Pamela Mckellar today announced that:
"After 4 successful years at the wonderful Drakes Hotel we have decided to close The Gingerman at Drakes to focus on our other businesses; The Ginger Fox, The Ginger Pig and The Gingerman at Norfolk Square, which has been celebrating its 10th anniversary. Our other premises are all stand alone businesses which works well for the group, so it makes sense for us to concentrate on this structure in the future.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the team at Drakes Hotel for giving us the opportunity to be part of their fabulous Hotel and we want to extend our warmest thanks to all those customers who have supported us over the last 4 years. The good news is we still have our three other venues for you to dine in and we are planning to open a new venture in 2009"
The Gingerman at Drakes will be a sadly missed part of the Brighton Restaurant scene but we look forward to seeing what 2009 has in store for The Gingerman!
