Following his return from culinary adventures in French Leave, the ebullient John Burton Race decided it was the English Riviera for him, headed off in that direction and bought the ailing Carved Angel, then ripe for somebody of his disposition to bring it back to life. Inevitably it has become The New Angel. Typical JBR style the approach is outwardly relaxed, with a completely new interior design happily combining antique chandeliers with modern furniture and traditional colours.
