A much-loved pub in this charismatic 13th century Devon village, with a thatched roof and redolent with character at every turn. It is owned by Nigel and Kerstin Burge, who look after it with loving care. Nor is it just the outsiders who flock here - they have to fight it out with the locals. All the things that over-enthusiastic owners use to unintentionally spoil their places are missing, with the result that oldies like me are wafted back to their happily misspent youth
