We have been on the historic site of Shamrock Quay for 20 years (contact us and claim a free bottle of wine with your meal) the restaurant is an old listed Camper & Nicholsons building. Surrounding buildings house Shamrock Chandlery, Sakks menswear, Foxy Lady and the varied businesses present on a working marina. It is just just down the road from Southampton Football Club making us an ideal stop before and after a match.
Inside, Taps has a nautical theme with memorabilia, paintings and photos of historical ships, sea views and old local landmarks. Make the most of the sunshine during a long lunch or restful evening meal on our garden terrace.
In a hurry at lunchtime? Phone your orders through or indulge in our 'Quick Lite Bite' menu.
Evenings take on a romantic air with candlelit dinners making Taps the ideal place for a special occasion. Let us know beforehand and we will add the finishing touches truly making it an evening to remember.
Our head chef, Peter, has been with us for seventeen years. Mentored by Christopher in the early years. Christopher now works with his father Alfred at the front of the house. Alfred has been in the catering trade since he was fourteen years old starting as a page boy with the Hapag Lloyd Hotels. He worked in Heidelberg, Murren Spitz, Interlaken and Scotland before coming to Southampton. From the 'Skyways', Happy Cheese and the Four Horse Shoes to starting Taps with Christopher. Christopher has gained experience as a chef in restaurants and hotels throughout Hampshire.
We cook using fresh ingredients. If you have something special in mind let us know before your visit and we will happily cater for you.
