Those good folks in Leeds seem to have cause for celebration as the closure of La Rascasse brought - from the other side of the Pennines - that brave Lancastrian Paul Heathcote to the city, with his very successful Simply Heathcotes Brasserie operation, located in an old grain store overhanging the canal and combining reasonable prices with quality, pleasant service and interesting food. There is also ample parking space, an increasingly scarce asset in our overcrowded cities.
Dishes on their extremely good value menus could commence with cream of celery and smoked chicken soup, potted shrimps, grebiche dressing or risotto of wild mushrooms.
