Situated right in the heart of Tynemouth, Sidneys Restaurant is the perfect place for any occasion, from business meetings to casual lunches, and escape away from the children or simply a great night out. The sandy beaches, clear waters and fascinating history appealed to the new proprietor Alan O’kane who sensed the restaurant’s potential and felt it needed that extra something to make it a fantastic local hotspot and a definite addition to everyone’s phonebook. And with so much experience, he was the man to do it.
After a flying start at the Savoy in London he went on to work for Capital Hotel on Basil Street, which boasts a ‘Michelin Star’ award. Next, he took a job at the General Tarlton in Yorkshire, followed by the renowned Bistro 21. The next step seemed clear and Alan bought the Angel in Corbridge, receiving a Gourmand Bib. And of course, he now is the head chef and owner of Sidneys.
The ingredients used at Sidneys are of the highest quality, making the typically modern English dishes irresistible. With the sea on the doorstep Alan can buy fish straight from the boats, keen to use only the best local produce.
