Secco is a three storey venue which specialises in good quality Italian drinking and dining inspired by the De Giorgi family’s home region, Salentino in Southern Italy.
On the first floor Secco hosts a Caffè Bar serving authentic Italian dishes including parma ham with truffled mushroom piadini and dry aged rump steak ciabatta with caramelised onion and wild mushrooms plus a range of fresh juices and coffees. Customers can also enjoy the summer sun in the Caffè Bar’s outside terrace area.
The adjoining Blue Room is a more intimate bar where you can get away from the crowds and chill out in the secret and elegant hide-away.
On the floor above, Ristorante Salentino specialises in a superb interpretation of authentic, yet simple Italian food, using the finest, seasonal ingredients from Northumberland and the best of Southern Italian staples which is complemented by a wine list befitting the finest Italian enoteca. The restaurant received a Hardens Remy Award for best New Restaurant Opening in 2005, one of only 10 restaurants in the UK to achieve such an accolade.
Secco can be hired out for private functions for up to 220 people and with its newly acquired Wedding and Civil Ceremony License it is the perfect venue for special occasions. Plans are currently underway to extend the Bar at Secco on the ground floor next door to Popolo.
