Whilst Reeves Restaurant (out of deference to the owner) trips off the tongue, so also does Rumbles Cottage (its address) - why not Rumbles Restaurant? Anyway here in this very traditional beamed cottage Darren Reeve has established a splendidly popular little place. The food is consistent and meticulously prepared. Start with a cheese and sun-dried tomato rarebit, a combination of mature cheddar, mozzarella and English mustard on thick, crusty toast accompanied by an apple and celery salad. Follow with the sea-bass, pan fried in butter with lemon, ginger and spring onions, and conclude with an orange mousse set in Cointreau soaked sponge and a duo of fruit coulis. Well-trained and presented staff are a joy to be served by. A good wine list with house wine from £9.75.
