Edinburgh's premier Morocco style restaurant.
Our opened restaurant has been fully designed to give you the most relaxing and enjoyable evening out.
On Friday's and Saturday's nights we have live belly dancing. Tables can be booked in advanced and we are happy to cater for parties and large groups.
We can arrange for party bookings and belly dancing can also be arranged for special occasions.
comment: Used as a social hub by the younger members of Edinburgh's thriving Arab community, this is also a decent restaurant, modestly decorated with Moroccan artefacts and red banners (in acknowledgement of the national colour of Marrakesh rather than any revolutionary movement). On Friday and Saturday nights the place is buzzing. A belly-dancer shimmies up and down the very narrow restaurant, impeding the friendly staff, and a quick meal is therefore a complete impossibility. Surprisingly, given the relaxed authenticity of the restaurant's atmosphere, the starters served here are relatively mild. The harira soup is full of delicate coriander and parsley flavours while the spinach briwat - a filo pastry parcel of spinach and goat's cheese - is a perfect option for those wary of overpowering flavours. The lamb kofte tajine buzzes with cumin, however, and with a touch of harissa makes a great dinner. This place is all about the Arab detail and if you miss out on a smoke of sheesh from a hookah after the meal, you've missed half the fun in one of the liveliest hangouts in the city.
