Obsidian: “dense volcanic glass, typically black in colour and rich in iron & magnesium.”
Obsidian Bar and Restaurant is the intriguing name of an exciting new restaurant concept in Manchester city centre, which takes its design inspiration from the buzzy uptown restaurants of New York, and its food influence in equal parts from the North West and Modern European cooking.
The breathtaking Obsidian is located underneath the new Arora International Hotel.
The design of Obsidian is as impressive as the team involved in the project. Inspired by the upscale glamour of the Big Apple, the designers have created a magnificent space which blends Arabesque with Sex and the City. A petrified tree feature and polished marble-floored staircase greets diners at the door and takes them down into the main restaurant, where white Moroccan-style curved ceilings and walls complement intimate rounded leather booths.
The flooring is in richly coloured mahogany and redwood, while the stunning 50ft frosted glass bar is backlit with aquamarine neon, and boasts tall chairs, long mirrors and angled strip lighting which changes ‘moods’ during the day and night.
A perfect spot for Manchester’s very own Carrie Bradshaws, Obsidian is the perfect place, in fact, for anyone who cares about excellence in the whole experience of dining out in Manchester.
