A short bio of Mozart's
As we sat having a glass of wine outside one our favourite restaurants in Nottingham on a warm Saturday lunchtime, we were finalising our wedding plans, which was only two weeks away. Our lives were about to change in a completely different way, Wayne, one of friends who owned Mr Maltby's with his partner Paul, was walking past the restaurant we was sat outside of and told us that they had put their restaurant up for sale the day before.
It was always our dream to have our own restaurant, our plan was to get married and then in a couple of years look at buying our own restaurant - not two weeks before our wedding day!! This news caused us a dilemma, do we do what a normal couple would do and concentrate on the wedding or follow our heart and put a offer in on the restaurant - we, being as crazy as we are, decided to follow our heart and put a offer in on Mr Maltby's. Over the next couple of weeks we were organising the final things for our big day and negotiating to buy Mr Maltby's!!
Our wedding day went perfectly and as we left Heathrow Airport to go on honeymoon, just two days after our wedding at 6.30am we put our final offer in the post to Wayne and Paul- we had a very anxious 2 weeks to find out if it was ours.
As we sunbathed on the sunny beach in Bali - trying to relax - we constantly talked about our restaurant - there was just something telling us it was ours, as we toured the island trying different restaurants, we politely asked if we could have a copy of their menu to take back for our restaurant. The honeymoon was over and the all-important question was answered - " Yes, it was ours!!"
So, we had a restaurant, but what do we call it? We decided on the name Mozart's because of Dawn's musical background.
Mozart's Restaurant was born 1st November 2002 and we were keen to put Mozart's on the map with Nottingham's restaurants. We decided on a modern English/International menu, food cooked from fresh, high quality ingredients (local produce used when practical) created in a modern yet unfussy way. Setting out standards high our menu recognises the uncompromising need to offer good cuisine at realistic prices. After obtaining a full alcohol license we have put together a wine list to follow the same principles. The décor of the restaurant is based around the musical theme, with musical notes on the crockery and on the walls.
Mozart's is a 36-seater restaurant and is ideal for intimate dining, small weddings, birthday parties or just an evening out - where the atmosphere is warm and friendly and the food fabulous!!
