“Michael’s” is a warm and welcoming neighbourhood restaurant, and the menu is an expression of chef-proprietor, Michael Wichmann’s vast experience and creativity, gained from working in some of the world’s most exclusive hotels and restaurants, in Europe, the Middle East and Far East.
Michael’s skills are rooted in classical French cuisine, and were acquired at the Michelin starred La Truffe Restaurant at the Park Hotel in Frankfurt, as well as top London hotels such as the world famous Savoy Hotel and the Intercontinental Hotel in Grosvenor Square.
After London, Michael had his first experience of cooking in the Far East with a 3 year stint at the Hong Kong Hotel overlooking Hong Kong Harbour. From Hong Kong he took up his first Executive Chef position at the luxurious Bali Cliff Resort on the paradise island of Bali, Indonesia.
After 3 years in Bali, Michael returned to London to take over at the prestigious 5 star Royal Horseguards Hotel and One Whitehall Place Banqueting Suites, where he was Executive Chef for 4 years.
His last position before branching out on his own was in the Middle East as Executive Chef in the Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel and Towers, via the Munich Marriott.
Since opening in June 2005, Michael’s has received an excellent response from diners and good press coverage (The Times, Lancashire Evening Post, Instyle Magazine, Caterer and Hotelkeeper, Southport Visitor).
Michael aims to provide a local restaurant where people can enjoy excellent food in a relaxed, unpretentious environment.
