Review by The Editor, Food: Service: Atmosphere:
I visited at lunch time along with eight other diners. Upstairs was closed, downstairs looks terribly dated and unappealling in 2007 - it's so 1998!
The soup (order accepted) - again "heritage" tomatoes, was not on ten minutes after I ordered (they must have had a run on it....) so I cannot tell you whether it was good or bad.
The coffee was good....
The "sandwich" ordered with chicken was not a sandwich - it was a skimpy piece of grilled chicken with a dressing (mayonnaise?) buttered on imprresively large, dry burger burns with some fresh shaved Parmesan. The Earl would have turned in his grave and my great aunt would have lost her teeth - at £9.95 I think they are looking for a bit too much margin. Oh - the french fries were good.
Offers from other nearby operators such as Ping Pong are so much better, fresher and good value.
I think we might soon be seeing the "Monster Mash"
