When the Indian Cavalry Club first opened in 1986 it introduced Edinburgh to an entirely new experience in Indian food: The taste of modern India in fact. Although it is a club - which you may join - the elegant Officers' Mess restaurant on the ground floor is open to everyone. Its delightfully relaxed atmosphere will make you feel welcome at once.
The Indian Cavalry Club serves the kind of modern Indian cuisine favoured by the most exclusive circles of Delhi and Bombay and especially at the banquets for which the officers' mess of the Cavalry Regiment is famous (hence our name). These dishes are lighter, less fiery than traditional fare and rely on the finest, freshest ingredients. They are either gently steamed, or cooked virtually fat free in tandoori fashion. Thus they satisfy successfully not only the demands of the most discriminating palate, but also those of the most health conscious dieticians.
