Browns Restaurant in Maddox Street was originally the premises of Wells & Co, gentlemen's and military outfitters. It is an extraordinary monument to the decorative delights of the day, from rich plaster work foaming across the ceiling and down the walls and the etched glass skylights to the elaborate wrought-iron bannister and handsome parquet flooring.
The restaurant boasts a bar, dining with 170 seats and a fine collection of private dining and meeting rooms. These were originally the fitting rooms of the tailors shop -it is claimed that Sir Winston Churchill was once fitted for a suit in one!
The restaurant is very popular with business people, shoppers from Bond St, those attending the local auction rooms and art galleries -as well as visitors to London staying at nearby Mayfair Hotels.
