We came to Amarone on the recommendation of regular customers. We will not be returning - the hospitality was non existent. Extremely disappointed by the service throughout our whole visit. On an up note the food was outstanding, we had four main courses-all different-and two desserts and everything was superb. However the mood of the evening was spoiled by the manner in which we were treated by the waitress and the fact that the gentleman who took us in was very offhand and surly. We even had to find our own coats, among the many that were hanging up, when we left. I have no idea how you expect to build up a good clientele with this type of attitude. Our bill came to £71.00 and I left £80.00,I sincerely hope the chef gets a share and the other waitress and waiter who were very friendly and welcoming. We will not be returning.

What a great restaurant! The food was outstanding. I ordered a huge veal chop and my wife had the halibut - both were great. Service could not have been better and the contemporary jazzy music made a really nice atmosphere. We will be regulars.

This was my fourth visit and I have to say was up to the standard of the previous three. We were going to the ballet that evening so we had the pre- theatre and the choice was excellent and not only that was different from previous visits. This is something that more restaurants should do as the same menu becomes boring after a time even if you like the restaurant. Another big plus, especially for my wife, is that there is wheat/ gluten free pasta available. Apart from the food, for me, although I'm no wine buff, Amarone is certainly the best Italian red I have ever tasted and competes with and surpasses many of the great French reds. To cap it all there is even a choice including a half bottle of one which is ideal for lunch/ pre-theatre visits. Service was excellent and can be as fast or slow as you require. It was attentive without being fussy or in your face all the time. The atmosphere was pleasant, neither too noisy nor too quiet. Ambient temperature was just about right and made for comfortable eating. Please don't ever compromise on the quality and consistency of your product. I would say this is definitely a jewel in the crown of Glasgow restaurants.

We visited this restaurant on 2 March 2007 and will not go back. Our table was to the back of the restaurant and surrounded by two tables of loud teenagers, at least they were pleasant the same could not be said of the waitress. The minestrone soup was a huge disappointment it was more like some vegetables placed in lukewarm water. The steak was placed on cold rocket and quickly cooled - the chips were not cooked properly.No-one even asked if we had enjoyed our meal, hardly surprising.

I went with a group of nearly 30 on 24/4/2007. I thought the menu was excellent, enjoyed the experience and am returning tonight with my wife.

The night we visited the food was great as usual, but the service was a bit dissapointing. We were never offered a sweet menu and then had to ask for coffees as our server never returned to us. Have always had a great time and everyone has been very friendly so will put this visit down as a one off.

My girlfriend and I have been to Amarone several times and the truth is we can't say anything but good things about the place. The food is awesome, and the attentive staff make sure your every need is catered for. It's an ideal place to go if you have something to celebrate, or somewhere pleasant to go before you head out into the carnage that is Glasgow's nightlife.

Had a lovely meal with friends on Saturday evening. One of the best fillet steaks I've tasted in a long time. The house wine went down a treat too. Wont be long till we're back.

From the moment my girlfriend and I entered the restaurant - which sits quaintly below street level - to the moment we left, we were treated superbly. Our drinks arrived within a couple of minutes and the starters just as soon after ordering. The food was OUTSTANDING, service was excellent and friendly, and everything from the lighting down to the almond biscuit served with my Mocha was Pure Class! Highly recommended and I'll definitely be returning.

The presentation and taste of food could not be faulted but the male waiting staff seemed to spend their time chatting to each other so much so that for main course and for sweet it was necessary, after a considerable wait,to ask whether there was any chance of a further course. There seemed to be no one in control and no one seemed to bother at all about service which is a pity since otherwise a decent restaurant
